What a weekend we had here!, the sun was shining and the fish where biting for our rd 3 event at Burrendong dam, this was our first App based event for the year, and arent we glad about that, as there where over 800 Golden Perch! registered in the two day day event, 700 of those fish coming in on day 1.
In this event we had 50 teams compete for the longest combined bag of 10 yellowbelly, in what was our first "Joker" round of the series, where teams fished with out the aid of any live technology in session two of the event. Some teams excelled on the Sunday, when the clocks where wound back and it was time to fish "old School" and some teams not so much, this was evident in the difference of fish landed between the two sessions, and the changes on the leader board in session two.
One team that thrived on the concept was our winning team for the week end "Codtales Podcast" Aaron Graham, Mick Haydon and Dane Luhtasaari ($3500), these guys threw a number of lures for their winning fish, ranging from black grubs, ZX blades and TN60's, fished through deep schooled fish, which where all caught a long, long way up the Cudgegong arm of the dam. With a long way to motor home, it was mayhem, with the boys only taking the lead in the final 15mins of fishing, which saw them just bump out our 2nd placed team "One Last Cast" Troy and Kiera Blood ($2500) in the dying stages of competition, followed closely behind with the ever consistent team "Jigheads" Brad Gardiner and Shane Banks ($1500). The Compleat Anlger Bathurst $500 bigest Yella went to Mitch Skeers with an absolute stonka! coming in a 660mm. Teams 4-10th also walked away with some great prizes for the weekend, from Shimano, Wilson fishing and Profishent Tackle.
